Participation, Power, Philanthropy: Putting Nonprofits and Communities in the Driver’s Seat | PEAK2020 Online

As grants managers, our desire to make a positive impact on the communities we serve fuels our work. To create the greatest impact, we must work side by side with nonprofits and communities to solve problems and determine the most effective path forward. But what does it look like when nonprofits and communities drive our work? Through individual reflection, group activities, peer coaching, and discussion, this session assesses how nonprofits and communities currently participate in your work. The presenters consider the importance of examining participation through diversity, equity, and inclusion lenses, and you will come away with tools to reflect on the role you can play in helping your organization plan for three important “Ws” of participation: when participation is important, who should participate, and what participation could look like.
